Pacific Ocean, National Geographic Society Map, 1952

Map of the Pacific Ocean published by the National Geographic Society in December 1952. This fascinating historical document captures the world at a time of great geopolitical change after World War II.

The map uses the Mercator projection and includes a detailed "Geographic Equivalents" legend that translates local terms (such as "Jima" for island or "Punta" for promontory) into English, demonstrating National Geographic's typical encyclopedic approach. Numerous detailed inserts of islands and archipelagos (such as Tahiti and Moorea) are included.

The map is in excellent condition, with some yellowing, and retains its original folds, authentic evidence of its distribution in the historic yellow magazine.

It can be picked up in person or delivered anywhere with insured shipping. Viewing and purchasing in person at our warehouses is available by appointment.
