Kartell Uncle Jack Sofa Designed by Philippe Starck

Launched as a true engineering challenge, Uncle Jack set an absolute world record upon its debut: it is the largest piece ever made from a single block of transparent polycarbonate through injection molding. This technological feat required years of research by Kartell to tame the material, concentrating a full 30 kg of weight and 190 cm of length into a single, monumental injection of plastic.

The result is a structural work of art with an ethereal, ghostly allure, combining an imposing, dramatic presence with visual lightness. For this historic record, the sofa was awarded the prestigious international Red Dot Design Award: Best of the Best in 2016.

Thanks to the exceptional durability of Kartell's polycarbonate, this piece is perfect for both avant-garde indoor spaces (living rooms, lofts, and executive offices) and outdoor settings (terraces and gardens).

The sofa is in very good condition, structurally intact, solid, and free of cracks. Being made of glossy polycarbonate, it shows normal surface micro-marks from use. The most visible defect (highlighted in the photo) is a slight localized clouding with more pronounced scratches due to rubbing, which, however, does not detract from its exceptional aesthetic impact. We have replaced all the rubber feet with original Kartell spare parts. The "Kartell Milano" logo is imprinted directly on the frame.

Like the Uncle Jim armchair (a pair is available under code 2266), the sofa is part of the "Aunts and Uncles" collection, which reinterprets traditional seating from the past in an ultra-modern and technological way.
