Italian Republic, 1950s iron Sign

Extremely rare emblem of the newly established Italian Republic, which belonged to some Office of the Public Administration

Officially adopted on 5 May 1948, the emblem has great symbolic and historical value for Italy, representing the rebirth of the country as a Republic after the Second World War and the fall of fascism

Designed by Paolo Paschetto, it features a white five-pointed star bordered in red, superimposed on a gear that represents work. The emblem is therefore surrounded by an olive branch (symbol of peace) and an oak branch (symbol of strength and dignity), tied by a red ribbon with the writing "REPVBBLICA"

The iron plate is clearly rusted and the design is partly covered, but restoration work needs to be carefully evaluated. The sign is however intact and in the correct shape, with 4 holes in the corners to allow for putting up
